I’m not a big crier but these movies always give me all the feels.

  • Big Fish
  • The Fountain
  • Children of Men (basically anything with Michael Caine)

What are some movies that you just bawl watching?

We’ve officially reached that annoying time of year where it’s sweater weather in the morning, but by midday you die from a heatstroke.

Hickies for days.

My house selfie in front of a mirror that covers the door of a real cedar closet made in the 1920s. It helped keep fur coats in good condition. I’m using it to store snowboarding stuff and my LOTR trivia pursuit. I’m fancy.

I am a survivor of domestic violence.

#whyistayed #whyileft

My mother is the strongest person I know, but it still took her 20 years before she was able to get her and us children out of our violent home. She was not dumb, blind, in foolish love or staying because of money. She was scared, insecure and alone. The system had failed us time and time again. Overnights in jail only made the abuse worse. The judicial system was broken. Neighbors closed their blinds. Teachers never asked. Employers never cared. As a victim of violence she believed she was worthless, deserved the abuse and was threatened by more violence if she ever did leave. Every other day brought a glimmer of hope as promise of “change” was often part of the vicious cycle. She could have left us kids and saved herself. Instead, she endured 20 years of violence out of fear for her kids’ lives #whyistayed. We could have easily been another statistic. I can name numerous occasions where we almost were…THEN on one magical day, a wonderful friend and her amazing husband helped change everything. We are forever thankful. My mom learned to love herself again and found a good man to love her back. #whyileft. My story may shock some of you who do not know me, but it is not unique. Domestic violence is the leading cause of injury in women – more than muggings, car accidents and rapes combined. Every day in the US more than 3 women are murdered by their husbands and boyfriends. Every 9 seconds in the US a women is assaulted or beaten.

I want to take a moment to ask people to educate themselves about domestic violence before they jump to conclusions or judge the victims in these situations. I have seen some really ignorant and harmful posts on FB these last few weeks and am embarrassed by the blindness and saddened by the obliviousness. Domestic violence is real. While my story is about me and my mother, domestic violence can be against anyone. Educate yourself. Stand up for victims. Think before you post or say harmful statement online because chances are – 1 in 4 of the women on your FB/twitter/Instagram feed have been victims of domestic violence.

inspiredayz asked: Love your photos! I sometimes search for hot springs on Instagram and I happen upon yours months ago. Your pictures are very inspiring and they feel good. I did a hot springs search today and randomly found your pics and blog. Love it! Eastwoodclint

Thank you so much!!  Thanks for reaching out.  That’s really lovely to hear.

Jon is one of my constant sources of inspiration.  I met him three years ago this month when we quickly collaborated on a shoot in my old condo.  I’m so glad we did.
This is the very first shot I ever took with my Contax T2.  I lost the roll of film until it was rediscovered in our move.  Thank you, moving gods.
